20212022 Registration is OPEN again [Posted September 10, 2021]

2021/2022 Registration

On behalf of the Board of Directors I am happy to announce that online Registration for the 2021 – 2022 season will re-open on Friday September 10th, with vaccination proof verification starting at Summer Sizzle on Saturday September 11, 2021.  Please consult the website for more details or contact the Club Manager.  For those who have already registered, please contact the Club Manager for details on updating and finalizing your registration.  We thank you for your continued patience.

Things to keep in mind:

Registration 

  1. Returning members will be given a priority period (until Sept 20th, 2021) in which to register and guarantee placement in their respective leagues. Please contact your league chairperson for specific league policies. After the priority period, new members who registered during the priority period will be given priority over returning members who register after the priority period.
  2. For the 2021-22 season, a returning member is someone who was an active member in the 2019-20 or a new member who registered for the 2020-2021 season.
  3. Members who rolled all or a portion of last year’s payment over to this season will receive notification of any balance or credit due after their registration.

Revised Vaccination Policy

  1. As part of their registration, everyone 12 years of age and over wishing to become a member of Unionville Curling Club will be required to provide proof of full immunized with a Health Canada approved COVID-19 vaccine, by no later than September 27th. Please review Additional Covid Protocols below for more details.
  2. As a result, it has been determined that there will be no Little Rocks (U12) to start the season.  Little Rocks curling this season will be re-evaluated as the season progresses.
  3. All members must also agree to covid-19 declaration of compliance in the application form.
  4. Please access the Website for a list of times that the club will be open for the Club Manager to receive your proof of vaccination. Those that wish to email proof in, please note that all emails will be deleted once confirmation of proof has been documented. Please contact the Club Manager for further details.

Accessing the club

  1. Complete a self-health assessment to determine your fitness to curl before you arrive at the club. See Appendix 1.
  2. Locker Rooms and Washrooms will remain open.
  3. Bring your own water bottle and tissues at this time.
  4. Visitors and spectators must provide proof of vaccination to the club manager 24 to 48 hours before accessing the club and must also adhere to all Club policies once in the club. Club staff will be advised as to the visitor list each day. Those not on the list will not be permitted in the club facilities.

 Masks

  1. Masks to be worn when social distancing is not possible
  2. Masks will be required while using the locker rooms and while waiting for the ice to be ready in the designated waiting area in the lounge.
  3. Currently masks may be removed to engage in athletic or fitness activities.
  4. Masks may be removed while seated in the lounge while eating and drinking.
  5. All members have the option to wear a mask at any time for their own comfort level

 Play

  1. New Bell Rule: At the sound of the bell teams will complete the end they are currently playing, after which the game will end.
  2. To assist with contact tracing (see below Covid Protocols) all spares must be registered in the scheduling book located outside the curling club office. This is to ensure an accurate electronic record of all participants entering the building.

Curling Office / Kitchen Area

  1. Members will not be allowed to enter the curling office or kitchen. Access to the curling office will be for staff or BOD members only.
  2. All employees of the Club are fully vaccinated.

Covid Protocols:

 Contact Tracing

  1. Contact tracing is back in effect in York, all visitors must register with the Club Manager 24-48 hours before entering the Club with proof of full vaccination or entrance will be denied. Visitors will sit at the designated tables. Failure to comply could lead to a $5,000 fine.

No proof of immunization against Covid19

  1. Membership application are currently not being accepted at this time without a valid exemption.

Valid Exemptions

Currently as per the Ontario Ministry of Health there are only two valid medical exemptions from COVID-19 vaccinations:

1 - an allergic reaction to a component of the vaccine within an individual, which must be confirmed by an allergist or immunologist.

2 - if an individual suffered myocarditis or pericarditis after the first dose of a vaccine.

Exemptions will be granted to those legally entitled with appropriate documentation.  Documentation of legal reason for exemption will be required by the Unionville Curling Club

Any information shared with the Club Manager will be kept private and confidential

Additional Protocols will include and may not be limited to:

1 - mandatory masking at all times.

2 - submission to Club Manager of negative covid test 24 to 48 hours before participation                  in on ice activities, if not received, you may not participate until a valid negative test result is provided.

3 - Limited use of locker room for changing of shoes and use of washrooms.

4 - No sparing.

5 - No use of club facilities after on ice participation.

There will be a Zero Tolerance policy – failure by exemption members to follow these Covid protocols will result in a review of membership status by the BOD, with possible suspension or termination of membership without refund.  In order to ensure the safety of the club staff and members, the local authorities will be called to escort anyone refusing to leave the Club facilities for breach of Covid protocols when asked.

The Unionville Curling Club is privately owned by its members and operated by an elected Board of Directors. It represents a group of individuals dedicated to the Sport of Curling.

The Unionville Curling Club was founded in 1919. From its humble beginnings in a small converted barn to its present location, the club has grown to become one of Ontario's most respected curling clubs. Situated in the heart of the village of Unionville, it serves curlers from the surrounding area as well as Metro Toronto.
