The Unionville Curling Club is taking skills development up a notch. Here is a brief overview of our plans. Read more about each offering below.
Introduction to Curling - Attracting potential new members with short on-ice sessions (offered three times during the season)
Learn to Curl - Introducing potential new members to curling with a series of clinics (One fall and one winter session for men and women and one fall session for women only)
Start of Season Clinics - Starting the season off right with clinics for all curlers
Development Clinics - Open to all members throughout the year
Development for Coaches - through a half day clinic with an outside expert resource.
Start of Season Clinics
LEVELS FOR CLINICS FOR 2018/2019
This year curlers are invited to attend clinics based on the descriptions below.
Typically have been curling 2 years or less and are playing lead or second
Working on the basics of delivery and understanding of the game
Typically have been curling 3 years to 6 years and have moved or are moving to vice in recreational leagues (e.g. Mixed or other draw leagues )
Have mastered the basics of delivery and understanding of the game
Typically have been curling 7 years or more and are playing vice or skip in recreational leagues (e.g. Mixed or other draw leagues)
Working on enhancing the mechanics of delivery, the execution of a variety of shots and understanding of the game
- Each clinic is 70 minutes and will include a short off-ice orientation (about 5 or 10 mins), about 50 minutes on ice, and a short off-ice wrap up (about 5 or 10 mins)
- Limited to 4 curlers and one coach per sheet
- Clinic will be re-evaluated and potentially cancelled if registration is less than 3 curlers on October 1, 2018
Cost: $15 (includes light snacks)
Maximum Registrants: 4
Please register in advance and pay at least 3 days in advance to protect your spot.
Non-registered participants will be accommodated on a first-come, first-serve basis for any open spots on the evening of the clinic.
Development Clinics for Members during the season
Development clinics for all levels will run (specific dates and times TBD)
All clinics are open to all members and conducted by accredited coaches (members).
Sign up through the online event registration. Space is limited.
Fees are TBA per clinic, non-refundable.
If you can’t attend the clinic, you can offer the spot to another appropriate UCC member.
As a courtesy please contact the coach directly if you are sending a substitute and/or if the spot will be empty.
